The national flag of Mongolia is a vertical triband with a red stripe at each side and a blue stripe in the middle, with the Mongolian Soyombo symbol centering on the leftmost stripe.

Blue in the center stands for the endless sky—symbolizing peace, freedom, and eternity.

Red on both sides represents strength, courage, and the spirit of Mongolia’s people.

On the left, you’ll see the golden Soyombo symbol:

Fire is a general symbol of eternal growth, wealth, and success. The three tongues of the flame represent the past, present, and future.

Sun and Moon: The everlasting existence of Mongolia, watched over by the sky.

Triangles: Symbolize the spear and arrow, representing defense against enemies.

The two horizontal rectangles give stability to the round shape. The rectangular shape represents the honesty and justice of the people of Mongolia, whether they stand at the top or at the bottom of society.

Yin-Yang: The Taijitu symbol illustrates the mutual complement of opposites. It is interpreted as two fish, symbolizing vigilance, because fish never close their eyes.

Vertical Rectangles: Represent fortress walls, symbolizing unity and strength.

Overall, the Mongolian flag reflects the country’s history, culture, and values—emphasizing independence, strength, and the importance of the sky and land to the Mongolian people.
